Dennis Ray Blackmon
Dennis Ray Blackmon, 64, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.
A native of Halifax County, he was born to the late David J. and Cassie Pollard Blackmon, and was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Blackmon Walker and his brother, Charles Blackmon.
Dennis served his Country in the United States Army and was retired from the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District as an electrician. He loved playing pool, riding his motorcycle, gardening, cooking, and his passion was music and playing his drums.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Becky H. Blackmon; his son, Justin Blackmon and his wife, Cindy, of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his grandson, Lucas James Blackmon; his mother-in-law, Rachel Holt of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his sister-in-law, Martha Blackmon Cole of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; his brothers-in-law, David Holt and his wife, Pam, of Franklinton, NC, Steve Holt of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Doug Holt and his wife, Susan, of Wilson, NC.
A memorial service to celebrate Dennis's life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC with Dr. Layne Wallace officiating.
Inurnment will be in the wall of the church after the services.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2019, from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. at the Church in the Fellowship Hall.
